This clever seating design for MPavilion 2020 responded to the need for 'physical distancing' during the pandemic.

Reminiscent of paper dolls connected by out-stretched limbs— each Stool Dolly can be positioned at ‘arm’s length’ (1.5m) or interlocked.

Joyful as well as practical; the seating allowed audiences to enjoy MPavilion’s cultural programming of events apart from each other; yet still together. The interconnected design created a genuine sense of intimacy and closeness at a time when people were being forced to stay apart.

It brought a feeling of safety and security; diminishing the sense of social anxiety of gathering in public space.
